Convert P.A.L & S.E.C.A.M

Video Tape to U.S. Standard

European Countries use a different Television Standard than the U.S.

In the US, the standard is known as N.T.S.C.

it stands for National Television Standards Committee.

In the 1950's when American homes had black and white televisions,

several television makers where experimenting with a television in color.

Each manufacturer had its own version, so to make it standard,

the U.S. government formed the National Television Standards Committee.

They chose one system for color television, as long as the color signal could be

viewed by a black and white television, so color tv as we know it was born.

In Europe Germany and France each had been working on color television,

the German system is known as P.A.L, the French system is known as S.E.C.A.M.

Europe adapted the German and French standards.

The P.A.L. system is used in Germany, England, Spain, Italy, Amsterdam.

The French system is used in France, Greece, Russia.

There are many countries using these European system around the world.
